PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Spectacular opening ceremony.
  • Popular biennial fundraising luncheon for the Florence Nightingale International Foundation.
  • A wide range of concurrent sessions including dynamic papers accepted through a highly competitive abstract selection process.
  • Professional visits to learn about nursing practice and health care in Korea.

This international gathering of thousands of nurses will explore the importance of crosscultural understanding and global cooperation in nursing. The ICN Conference will provide opportunities for nurses to build relationships and to disseminate nursing knowledge across specialties, cultures and countries.

Based around the Conference theme, “Global Citizen, Global Nursing”, the inspiring plenary sessions will look closely at the future health needs of citizens; how nurses can play a key role in developing the post-MDG agenda; and ways in which we can improve migration, socio-economic status and working conditions of nurses. Featured main sessions will offer the most recent expertise on mental health, nursing education, eHealth, human resources, infectious diseases, and counterfeit medicines. A lively debate will be held to discuss whether the world can afford universal health coverage. Concurrent sessions, symposia and posters will address these issues and many more. The Conference will also be the venue for ICN’s Network meetings.

The Council of National Representatives (CNR) meeting will run prior to the Conference from 17-19 June. The CNR is the governing body of the International Council of Nurses and meets every two years in conjunction with ICN’s Conferences.

A commercial and professional exhibition run concurrently with the Conference will give universities, health ministries, nursing organisations, publishers, pharmaceutical companies and local artisans the opportunity to showcase their products and services and present the most recent health care information.
